Analog Devices' 5 A, low noise, programmable output, 85 mV dropout linear regulator

Image of Analog Devices' LT3070 Linear RegulatorADI's LT3070 is a low voltage, UltraFast transient response linear regulator. The device supplies up to 5 A of output current with a typical dropout voltage of 85 mV. A 0.01 µF reference bypass capacitor decreases output voltage noise to 25 µVRMS. The LT3070's high bandwidth permits the use of low ESR ceramic capacitors, saving bulk capacitance and cost. The LT3070's features make it ideal for high performance FPGAs, microprocessors, or sensitive communication supply applications. Diagram

  • Dropout voltage: 85 mV (typ.)
  • Digitally programmable VOUT: 0.8 V to 1.8 V
  • Digital output margining: ±1%, ±3%, or ±5%
  • Low output noise: 25 µVRMS (10 Hz to 100 kHz)
  • Parallel multiple devices for 10 A or more
  • Precision current limit: ±20%
  • ±1% accuracy over line, load, and temperature
  • 28-lead (4 mm × 5 mm × 0.75 mm) QFN package
  • Stable with low ESR ceramic output capacitors (15 µF minimum)
  • High frequency PSRR: 30 dB at 1 MHz
  • Enable function turns output ON / OFF
  • VIOC pin controls buck converter to maintain low power dissipation and optimize efficienc
  • PWRGD / UVLO / thermal shutdown flag
  • Current limit with foldback protection
  • Thermal shutdown
